a sarcastic remark brought about
a laugh
and our child laughed out loud
not that she got it
but we all laughed along
we find ourselves
so caught up in politics and investments
that i've failed to see
the payoff in investing in my child
can you see how beautiful she is
she has the prettiest eyes
(like her mother's)
and for so long i've failed to see it
i'm sorry
you'll have to excuse me
but my wife and child are calling
and for once
starting now
and promising not to forget
from here on out
it's our time
my time
to watch my child grow
to see how beautiful my wife is
and cherish the fact
that i am lucky enough
to have both in my life
